This fellowship supports interdisciplinary research addressing critical challenges in the state’s coastal and watershed environments.

North Carolina Space Grant congratulates its 2024-2025 graduate research fellows. Twenty three graduate students will conduct science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) research to benefit NASA, commercial space or the International Space Station. Students’ projects will investigate STEM topics such as carbon storage, microgravity, and black hole exploration.

On March 22, North Carolina Space Grant hosted its annual NC Space Symposium at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Highlighting open science and exploring Earth from space, the signature event brought together over 200 attendees, with 75 percent being students, from across the state and beyond to learn from one another and celebrate student research.

Students from across the state are invited to present their research findings at the North Carolina Space Symposium: Explore Earth and Beyond, to be held in Raleigh on March 22, 2024 by North Carolina Space Grant. Students must submit their NASA- or STEM-related research abstracts by the deadline, January 26, 2024, to present a poster.

Fourteen graduate students will conduct science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) research to benefit NASA, commercial space or the International Space Station. For example, their projects include investigating star formation, advancing space vehicles, and making bio-based building materials.
