NC Space Grant Scholar, David Warren, Earns First Place at 2025 Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference

David Warren, an NC Space Grant Scholar from Elizabeth City State University, was awarded First Place in the Undergraduate Poster Presentation category at the 2025 Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in STEM, held this April in Atlanta, Georgia. The ERN Conference is sponsored by AAAS, ISEED, and the National Science Foundation. Warren’s award-winning presentation highlighted research conducted during his summer internship at NASA Langley Research Center, where he studied the durability of natural fiber composites as a potential alternative to carbon fiber materials.

This marks Warren’s second consecutive year earning recognition through this national conference. His continued success reflects the impact of sustained research engagement and mentorship through programs such as NC Space Grant. Warren has also noted growing interest from fellow students in opportunities like the NASA internship, pointing them to the NC Space Grant as a pathway to gaining hands-on experience in aerospace and STEM research.
Warren is currently an NC Space Grant scholar. Scholars receive academic, research, and professional development support designed to help them advance and thrive in STEM fields.
