Ghost Forest Research to Feature NASA, NOAA Data

Spencer Rhea, a Ph.D. student in biology at Duke University, is investigating when and where ghost forests will form next. Using satellite data to evaluate water color, Rhea is mapping coastal water salinity for research funded by North Carolina Sea Grant and NC Space Grant.

The NC Space Grant 2024 Faculty Research Grant is now accepting proposals to develop new National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) related research projects or to pursue new research directions that meaningfully engage students. The deadline for proposals is November 30, 2023

Two NC Space Grant 2023-24 MSI Scholarships Now Open for Applications

Students at eligible Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) can now apply to two MSI scholarships, the MSI STEM Pathways Scholarship and the MSI STEM Bridge Scholarship. Applications are being accepted until Monday, October 16, 2023.

NC Space Grant and Sea Grant Announce New Joint Fellow

North Carolina Space Grant and Sea Grant programs are pleased to announce the 2023-24 joint research fellow. Colleen Brown, a Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s Center for Marine Science, is studying water quality in the Lower Cape Fear River Watershed.

North Carolina Sea Grant and North Carolina Space Grant are offering a special joint funding opportunity for graduate student research on ghost forests. Full-time graduate students at colleges and universities in North Carolina are eligible to apply for the $10,000 award.
